Vizcaya PLGU employs 134 SPES beneficiaries

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Aug. 29 (PIA) - The provincial government here has employed 134 beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) in various municipalities of the province.

Governor Carlos Padilla said the employment of the SPES beneficiaries was initiated in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

He said the beneficiaries were already oriented on their job description and benefits, among others through the Public Employment Service Division (PESD) of the provincial government.

"They were deployed in the municipalities of Bayombong, Bambang, Kasibu, Bagabag, Sta. Fe, Villaverde, Castaneda, Diadi, Quezon, Dupax del Norte and Dupax del Sur," Padilla said.

The governor said the salary was shouldered by the PLGU because the allocation of the DOLE which is supposed to be 40 percent was used instead for the returning Overseas Foreign Workers (OFWs) who were sent back to their hometowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

They wIll be given a salary of Php 477.95 per day, a total of Php 9,559 in one month.

SPES is an annual summer employment program that encourages students to make their vacation productive by working during summer thereby earning extra which they can use during regular days.

"The PLGU is very glad to be of good help to the students as they render their services to our province with the best of their efforts," Padilla said.(MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
