Web forum on ancestral domains to be held

DAVAO CITY- A web forum thru Zoom on ancestral domains and the indigenous peoples will be held on August 5 Wednesday.

Titled “Web Forum on Mga Tingog Sa Yutang Kabilin (Voices of the Ancestral Domains)”the online dialogue will discuss progress in the Philippines’ efforts in fulfilling the rights of the indigenous peoples and the challenges in the implementation of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act or the IPRA Law.

The web forum is organized by the National Commission for the Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine Human Rights Committee Secretariat (PHRC).

This event which commemorates the International Day of the Indigenous Peoples will be a direct engagement between representatives of IP communities all over the country, government, partners, officials and experts in the UN system.

This is also the first time that several IP communities will get to dialogue with the United Nations Rapporteur on IP rights.

The August 5 web forum will be held on the morning 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. (Manila Time). (PIA/RG Alama)
