AgNor town SK launches agri program, activities for youth amid quarantine

BUTUAN CITY, Sept. 12 (PIA) -- As part of the youth’s participation on the government’s efforts to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Nasipit town in Agusan del Norte launched programs and a series of activities amid quarantine restrictions.

The “Indigay Gulayan sa Kabatan-onan” was launched in coordination with the provincial government of Agusan del Norte, under its “Plant, Plant, Plant” program. The program sought to boost food production and security in the municipality, especially with the decrease in food supply from suppliers outside Nasipit town due to community quarantine protocol, as reiterated by SK Federation President of Nasipit John Rey Ruiz on Friday’s episode of the Laging Handa Network Briefing with Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.

The youth council also made sure to provide the youth avenues to hone their skills even as they spend less time outdoors. During the celebration of the Linggo ng Kabataan celebrated recently on August, a series of contests on face shield making and poster- and slogan-making contests were launched virtually.

While active youth engagement is a primary objective of the youth council, the youth’s health and safety remains a priority during these times. The youth council president called for the youth’s cooperation in strictly abiding health protocols.

“Follow protocols set by our authorities. If there is no need to go out, stay at home. This goes to all youth, especially those who are aged 21 and below. Staying at home is the best way for us to avoid contracting this deadly disease,” he furthered. (DMNR/PIA-Caraga)
