BANGUED, Abra, Sept. 8(PIA) -- Governor Maria Jocelyn Bernos called on the Authorized Persons Outside Residences (APORs) specifically the uniformed personnel to follow protocols and guidelines that have been set to ensure safety in the province during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Pakiusap man kadagiti APOR, haan kayo nga exempted kadagiti protocols ti probinsya tayo (My request to our APORS, you are not exempted fom the protocols in the province),” Bernos stated in a social media post over the weekend.
She stressed that APORs are not exempted from the protocols and guidelines imposed by the Provincial Inter Agency Task Force (PIATF) of COVID-19 and the national government particularly on locally stranded individuals, returning overseas Filipino workers and other individuals this community quarantine.
Bernos noted that several APORS are among the COVID-19 positive cases reported in the province in the past days and some of them did not follow the protocols being implemented by the provincial government for incoming individuals to Abra.
On September 5, the provincial government reported two new COVID-19 cases, both police personnel who Bernos said came to Abra without prior notice or coordination made to the local government units.
The 29 year old female police officer assigned at the Tanudan Municipal Police Station in Kalinga came to Abra to attend the wake of her father from August 24 to 31, 2020. She was tested positive for the virus when she returned to Kalinga and is now admitted in a facility.
The 42 year old male police officer, meanwhile, arrived in Abra from Baguio City on August 14, and rendered duty at the Boliney Municipal Police Station from August 15 to 31. He went back to Baguio City on September 1 and underwent RT-PCR test which result was positive for COVID-19. He is now admitted in a facility in Baguio City.
The governor said that the provincial government welcomes APORs who come back home to the province to visit their loved ones or have a vacation after serving as frontliners in other areas but they should follow and comply with all the guidelines imposed by the Abra PIATF to ensure safety of Abrenians. She added that APORs are not singled out in the call to follow the imposed protocols.
Bernos reiterated that APORs who would enter the province have to show IDs and proof of work such as mission or job orders from their respective offices. They should submit personal data and information sheets, Health Declaration Forms and Letter of Acceptance from the local government unit they are going to.
Incoming APORs should also have a negative RT-PCR test results in the past three days. If they do not have RT-PCR results, they could avail of the Rapid Diagnostic Test at the Tangadan boundary worth P1,500 . APORs who are regularly coming in and out of the province are required to present RT-PCR negative results upon entry to the Abra.
When allowed entry to the province, APORs should stay at their residence and follow the mandatory quarantine period and other health protocols.
Family members of APORs are also encouraged to coordinate with their respective LGUs to inform them of the arrival of their family members to ensure preparation of the respective municipality and barangays as well following all the necessary health standards.
Bernos said that the provincial government of Abra will now file necessary cases to the APORs who would not follow the protocols in the province, whether COVID-19 positive or negative.
As of September 7, Abra has recorded 66 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 62 who already recovered and one death.(JDP/ RMC- PIA CAR)
