CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, Sept 15 (PIA) --The Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV-CALABARZON, through its Corn and Cassava Program, has awarded two moisture meters to corn and cassava farmers in Magdalena, Laguna and the City Agricultural and Fishery Council Business Group in DasmariƱas, Cavite.
The local government of Magdalena received the new agricultural tool from the regional office on September 7, 2020.
About 52 farmers are expected to benefit from this intervention that will help in identifying potential problems and damages to crops from moisture build-up in farms.
Meanwhile, a total of 257 corn and cassava farmers of the City Agricultural and Fishery Council Business Group also received this brand new moisture meter from DA on September 10.
Aside from moisture meter, the local government of DasmariƱas received eight bags of dekalb corn seeds under the Quick Response Fund for Taal-affected farmers of the Corn and Cassava Program.
One of the most important factors for the production of high-quality crops like corn and cassava, is the careful monitoring of moisture during harvest and storage. With the help of the moisture meter, farmers-recipients can now control the moisture content of various crops to ensure better yields and quality. (PIA-4A/DA CALABARZON RAFIS)
