CALOOCAN CITY, Sept. 11 (PIA) -- The Department of Labor & Employment-National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) has created more online educational videos for the public, their clients in particular, that they can watch at any internet-enabled device as the country continuously experience prolonged impact of COVID-19.
“Despite the lockdown measures, limited physical contact, and travel restrictions due to the threat of COVID-19, we still need to ensure that the relevant labor education services are made accessible for free with the use of technology,” DOLE-NCR Regional Director Sarah Buena S. Mirasol said.
As of September 2020, DOLE-NCR have produced three new educational videos, which explains some of the most relevant DOLE topics, including the impact of the one-month enhanced community quarantine on the six-month probationary period (DOLE Labor Advisory No. 14); Guidelines on the Employment Preservation Upon the Resumption of Business Operations (DOLE Labor Advisory No. 17); and definition of “Separation Pay” under the Labor Code of the Philippines.
Mirasol said they hope that the e-learning videos would be beneficial to all clients and stakeholders in regard to the implementation of the Labor and Employment Education Services (LEES) Program, which under normal circumstances, would primarily rely on the conduct of physical or classroom-type lectures to target establishments and schools.
“We are yet to provide more e-learning videos in the future to ensure the continued delivery of our labor and employment education services especially to target workers, employers, and students,” Mirasol said.
“Our social media platforms are very instrumental in helping us connect with our clients and we are committed to using these online communication channels to raise public awareness and support on DOLE programs during these uncertain times,” Mirasol added.
One of the core services of the labor department, the LEES aims to enlighten, educate and provide knowledge on the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers, work ethics, values, skills, and other relevant information to enable them to become responsible partners in building harmonious labor-management relations and the attainment of decent and productive work.
