LTO requires 15-hr driving lesson to student driver applicants

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, Sept. 6 (PIA) – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) now requires a 15-hour driving lesson to student driver license applicants.

LTO-Kalinga Head Jenelyn Angog said the new requirement is part of the agency’s efforts to assure safer traffic compared before when applicants only bring birth and medical certificates.

Angog said applicants need to submit a driving course certificate issued by an LTO-accredited driving school before they are issued a student driver license.

A student driver license is issued to an applicant who is at least 17 years old and is valid for one year before he can apply for non-professional or professional driver’s license.

In a related report, Angog disclosed a collection of P2.1 million for the month of August, mostly from vehicle registration and driver license application and renewal.

On car registration, car owners with plate numbers ending in 6, 7 and 8 are given until this month to renew their registration.

Angog reminded clients transacting at their office to observe proper health protocols this period of COVID-19 pandemic. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga).
