BAGUIO CITY, Sept. 6 (PIA) - - Mayor Benjamin Magalong reiterates the city government’s call to the people of Baguio for their cooperation and continuing strict compliance to the minimum health standards to protect themselves and their families with the easing up of community quarantine restrictions which include the opening up of parks for city residents and relaxing of mall and market schedules.

After six months of closure since the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine due  to Coronavirus Disease (COVID – 19) in March 17, the city government has opened this month parks to city residents with restriction on the number of park goers.

Children and senior citizens accompanied by family members under the allowable age (21 – 59 years old) can now enjoy a walk along Wright Park, Botanical Garden and Burnham Park, as well as Mines View Park and Dominican Heritage park, including some perks available such as horseback riding, boat ride and bicycle ride, as long as minimum health standards such as wearing of face masks and physical distancing, among other required safety protocols, are observed.

Magalong earlier eased up mall and market schedules schedules.   Only going to Baguio City Public Market has   remaining schedules for every city barangay. But the public is reminded to ensure that they only go out for important schedules and in getting basic goods and important necessities to avoid or lessen exposure to possible COVID – 19 infection.

Magalong also assured that the city government’s anti – COVID – 19 systems on prevention, detection, control and treatment will continuously be in place and will consistently be adjusted and improved as needed.

As of September 6, 5:00 pm data of the City Health Services Office, there are 367 confirmed cases recorded in Baguio, which is equivalent to 0.98 percent of the total 38,331 RT-PCR tests done in the city.

Of the 374 confirmed cases, 83 (22.20 percent) are active, 281 (75.13 percent) already recovered and 10 (2.67 percent) recorded deaths. There are also 1,505 suspect cases and 7,215 possible cases that are being strictly monitored. The same report shows that 106 RT-PCR tests were conducted today with five positive results. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
