Ifugao PLGU, PNP launch  anti- suicide campaign

KIANGAN, Ifugao, Sept.6 (PIA) - - The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and  the Ifugao Police Provincial Office (IPPO) launched here an anti-suicide campaign dubbed “Oplan Pamhod hi biyag” (love/value of life).

This aims to mobilize government agencies and other stake stakeholders to address the social issue in  society that already claimed eight lives from January to date, mostly caused by depression as reported by PSWD Officer Miriam Baguidudol.

“We also involve youths as pro-life advocates in their respective municipalities to help abate the problem or suicide incidence. They will also include in the campaign other issues like rape and violence against women and children,” Baguidudol added.

Vice Governor Glenn Prudenciano committed  to enact an ordinance supporting the advocacy and implementation of the program of the PSWDO on this concern. "The government, the parents, community and other concerned  citizens or organizations should work together and act on this concern since life is precious," he said.
 
Prudenciano  also informed that the provincial government included a Psychologist position under the PSWDO in the reorganization plan  to help individuals who are suffering from mental problem, suicide,and  drugs, among others.  (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
