DUMAGUETE CITY, Sept. 18 (PIA) -- Negros Oriental logged six new cases of COVID-19 infection as of today.
Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liland Estacion announced this in a press briefing held this afternoon at the IATF Media Briefing Area, BOM Office, Dumaguete City.
Of the total 119 swab tests results which came from the COVID-19 laboratory in Cebu City on Sept. 17, around 111 samples are negative while eight tested positive with two of them as repeat swabs of previously reported COVID-19 patients.
The two patients who still tested positive for the virus are NegOr-Cov-138 and 139, a couple from Bais City.
Meanwhile, Bais City recorded four new cases and one case each for Mabinay and San Jose.
COVID-19 patients with code NegOr-Cov-150, 151, and 152 are all direct contacts and relatives of NegOr-Cov-138 and 139.
They are locally Stranded Individuals (LSI) from Bulacan aged 71, 9, and 12, respectively, who arrived here on Aug. 27 via 2Go shipping. T
hey are asymptomatic and are staying in the local government unit (LGU) designated isolation facility.
On the other hand, NegOr-Cov-153 is a new case in Bais City who is a 19-year old LSI from Cavite.
She arrived in the province on Sept. 17 but she already took a swab test at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal in Pasay City before her flight.
She was informed she was positive for the virus upon her arrival at the Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport.
She is currently confined at the isolation facility of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital (NOPH).
The fourth new confirmed case is NegOr-Cov-154, a 33-year old female Authorized Person Outside Resident (APOR) in Mabinay but with travel history from Cebu.
She works in a government office stationed in the said town.
Estacion explained the patient was in Cebu since February, where she gave birth to her now six-month old child but she was unable to travel back to Mabinay due to the lockdown.
She arrived in the province along with her child on Sept. 6 via Maayo Shipping in Bato Port in Samboan, Cebu.
Upon arrival she went to her government office for disinfection then she proceeded to the LGU-designated quarantine facility.
The patient is asymptomatic and is staying at the LGU-designated isolation facility together with her baby.
Estacion said the child is also subject for swab testing.
Contact tracing for persons who had a direct contact with her started this morning.
NegOr-Cov-155 is a 56-year old female in San Jose Town who is an LSI from Bulacan.
She arrived in the province on Sept. 10 via Cebu Pacific.
She is also asymptomatic and currently staying at the LGU-designated isolation facility.
With this, the number of COVID-19 cases in the province is now at 155 with 16 actives cases, four mortalities, and 135 recoveries.
Estacion also noted that Valencia town is the remaining municipality in Negros Oriental with no COVID-19 case. (ral/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
