NorMin has 39 PhilHealth accredited isolation units

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Sept. 30 (PIA)--To provide coverage for all Filipinos for health services in identified Community Isolation Units (CIUs) for coronavirus disease (COVID)-19, PhilHealth has now accredited 39 CIUs in the region.

PhilHealth-10 Public Affairs Office Head Merlyn Ybañez shared that of the said number, Cagayan de Oro has 19, Gingoog (1), Bukidnon (8), Misamis Occidental (2), Lanao del Norte (8), and Camiguin (1), during the NorMin COVID-19 Response Task Force press conference, September 29.

“The PhilHealth package shall cover all inputs and activities within the entire episode of care at the CIU including payment for staff and professional fees, medicine, diagnostics, transport, and other operational cost,” Ybañez said. 

To avail of the benefit, the beneficiary must meet the clinical and/or social criteria as stated in the applicable issuance of the Department of Health (DOH). 

The corresponding reimbursement rate is at maximum of P22,449 per claim. 

For private health care facilities, reimbursement shall be utilized at their discretion, provided that this shall also be used to cover the cost of delivering the services. 

"Claims shall be paid to the CIU through the facility who filed for the claim," Ybañez added.

As for the testing laboratories, Ybañez said there are two PhilHealth accredited COVID-19 testing laboratories in the region, which include the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) and Polymedic Medical Plaza. 

Lanao del Norte has already submitted for accreditation with a minimal fee for non-DOH classified individuals. 

PhilHealth benefit packages for testing include services on screening/clinical assessment, diagnostic workup, as indicated, specimen collection, specimen transport, conduct of RT-PCR testing (including the test kit), and analysis and reporting of results.

As of Sept. 29, the region has 2,731 confirmed cases of COVID-19 of which 1,566 have recovered, 71 expired, and 1,094 are recovering. (RTP/PIA10)
