OPAV facilitates hospital bed donations to Iloilo City

ILOILO CITY, Sept. 22 (PIA) – The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) made possible the facilitation of 46 hospital bed donations for Iloilo City.

OPAV Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino, during his visit here earlier this month, committed to help Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas in providing hospital beds for the city.

Through the help of OPAV, the donations of 10 hospital beds from Chong Hua Hospital, and 36 hospital beds from business firm LH Paragon arrived in this city last weekend.

Meanwhile, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said that the hospital beds will be of immense help in boosting the city government’s response against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“We want to make sure that COVID-19 hospital beds will be available for those who need them,” he said.

He said the hospital beds will be used to augment the city’s step-down facilities including the St. Therese Hospital.

The hospital beds were shipped from Cebu City to Iloilo City by the Philippine Coast Guard. (JSC/LTP/PIA6 Iloilo)
