PhilHealth-7 Information Officer Dina Marie Cinchez discussing the COVID-19 benefic packages for qualified members during the Straight from the Source interview of the Philippine Information Agency-7.

CEBU CITY, Sept. 28 (PIA) -- Six months since the start of the community lockdowns due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth-7) continues to offer COVID-19 packages.

During the Straight from the Source interview hosted by the Philippine Information Agency, Dina Marie Cinchez, public information officer of PhilHealth-7, assured that COVID-19 packages are still available for qualified members.

There are three types of COVID-19 benefit packages that are currently being offered: in-patient coverage for the hospitalization of either mild, moderate, severe, and critical cases; swab testing; and those who have to undergo community isolation.

As of the end of August of this year, Cinchez said PhilHealth-7 has paid for 505 benefit claims for in-patient care due to COVID-19.

Of the total, most are paid for members who have suffered moderate pneumonia.

For the testing packages, a total of 6,141 have been covered for the entire region.

Currently, there are zero claims received for those under community isolation.

Cinchez also clarified that members who want to avail of the swab testing package may do so in accredited testing laboratories in the region.

There are seven accredited testing laboratories in Central Visayas, namely: Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Hospital (VSMMC) and Cebu TB Reference Laboratory in Cebu City; ARC Hospital and Prime Care Alpha COVID-19 Testing Laboratory in Lapu-Lapu City; University of Cebu Medical Center in Mandaue City; and Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Bohol.

There are 19 certified community isolation units in Region 7 - 1 in Negros Oriental, 3 in Bohol, 5 in Cebu South, 7 in Cebu City, and 3 each in Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue cities.

Meanwhile, Cinchez clarified that other health benefits packages are still available for the members.(poc/PIA7)
