PhilHealth rallies for accredited community isolation centers

SAN JOSE, Antique, Sept. 30 (PIA) -- Local government units (LGUs) in Antique are encouraged to apply for accreditation to the Department of Health (DOH) to avail of the community isolation package for COVID-19 through the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

PhilHealth Antique chief Junie Sabusap, in an interview with the Philippine Information Agency, said that this package amounts to a maximum of P22,449.00 per individual admitted at an accredited isolation facility.

“We encourage LGUs to accredit to DOH so that we can issue a certification to them. This will replenish the money spent by the LGU to maintain an isolation center,” he said.

To note, the isolation package benefit covers the services, food, and personal essentials provided by the LGU to the quarantine facility.

Sabusap also clarified that PhilHealth’s payment will not be given directly to its members or to the facilities. Rather, the amount will be granted to an accredited rural health unit where the isolation center is currently affiliated.

“Like for example in San Jose, the Antique National School being the isolation center, can file their PhilHealth claim through the Rural Health Center because the RHU is accredited, ” he explained.

Meanwhile, PhilHealth-Antique lauded the efforts of the four towns that have DOH-accredited isolation facilities.

These included Bugasong Community Quarantine Facility, Tobias Fornier Isolation Facility, Valderrama Ligtas COVID Center, and Antique National School in San Jose.

“We are looking into the quality of care delivered by these quarantine facilities because accreditation means to examine the capacity of the manpower and equipment used if they have passed the quality standards,” Sabusap said. (LTP/LML-PIA6 Antique)
