CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, Oct 1 (PIA) – The Department of Health - CALABARZON (DOH-4A) turned over six land ambulances to different healthcare facilities in remote areas in the region, to ensure that every rural health unit and government hospital is equipped for pandemic response.
Recipients of the equipment included Alabat Island District Hospital and San Jose Rural Health Unit in Quezon; Mataas na Kahoy Rural Health Unit in Batangas; Malagasang 2 BHS and Ternate Rural Health Unit in Cavite and; Victoria Rural Health Unit in Laguna.
DOH-4A Regional Director Eduardo Janairo led the turnover ceremony of the emergency response equipment, which included a set of LED TV, complete with Health Education and Communication (IEC) materials and updates on the COVID-19, to aid in the information dissemination campaigns of local hospitals.
Each healthcare facility received a land ambulance which includes medical supplies and equipment, such as automatic external defibrillator, nebulizer, portable suction machine, examining light, aneroid sphygmomanometer, folding stretcher, scoop stretcher, heavy duty stethoscope and oxygen cylinder.
“Kailangang fully equipped at mayroong lifesaving equipment communication device na nakalagay for the management and care of the patient,” Janairo said.
The region’s top doctor hopes that the ambulances and equipment can help local healthcare facilities expedite their covid response, especially the transfer of patients to quarantine facilities.
In its September 28 update, the DOH reported that CALABARZON has a total of 37,984 covid cases, with 17,324 active cases, 19,768 recoveries and 892 deaths. (PTB with reports from DOH 4A)
