PNVSCA calls for digital poster-making entries on volunteerism

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Sept. 20 (PIA) – The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) called for the submission of entries on the digital poster-making contest on volunteerism.

The contest’s theme: “Be an Inspiration, Volunteer!” aims to highlight the significant contribution of volunteerism in nation-building as well as recognizing the tireless efforts of volunteers in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“The contest is open to all Filipino citizens currently residing in the country during the time of the submission, and they may take home Php30,000.00 as grand prize,” said National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) in the Ilocos focal person on volunteer activities Majalranni Inere.

Further, second and third placers will win Php20,000.00 and Php10,000.00, respectively.

A consolation prize of Php4,000.00 will be given to 14 national finalists while other qualified participants shall receive certificates of appreciation.

“This contest is also a means to promote creative arts which is part of the government’s 10-point socio-economic agenda, and the PNVSCA wants to highlight the works and contributions of COVID-19 volunteers and frontliners among other volunteerism activities,” Inere said.

In addition, she said that the entry should represent inclusivity, gender equality and diversity in volunteerism.

According to the guidelines, a participant can only send one original entry design in a landscape layout without any marks of identification from its owner with a written explanation of the work.

Previously submitted entries on other contests will not be accepted by the PNVSCA.

The contest entries will be judged according to the relevance to the theme, aesthetics appeal, its originality and over-all impact.

Furthermore, all entries that will be submitted shall automatically become the property of PNVSCA.

“Our agency encourages digital artists to support the activity because through their talent they will be able to inspire more people to create a culture of volunteerism in development,” said NEDA-1 Regional Director Nestor Rillon.

The deadline for the submission is set on September 25, 2020.

PNVSCA announced that the winning piece will be the official poster design for the National Volunteerism Month observance in December 2020. (JCR/AMB/AHFF/PIA 1)
