'Talipapa' allowed in Solano while under MECQ

SOLANO, Nueva Vizcaya, Sept. 11 (PIA) - Mayor Eufemia Dacayo here has allowed the setting up of 'Talipapa' or flea markets in the barangays as the municipality is under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This will serve as an alternative area and source of food among our villagers especially those in critical zones as we continue to mitigate this pandemic," she said.

Dacayo said the public market has been temporary closed since last month due to the continuing increase of COVID-19 cases in this commercial town.

The municipality as of September 10 has logged 137 total cases and 107 active cases with 26 recoveries and 4 deaths since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dacayo said 13 out of their 22 barangays have been seriously affected through community transmission of the virus.

She said the Department of Health (DOH) has delivered swab kits and Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for their aggressive campaign to mitigate the pandemic.

"The increase of our COVID-19 cases was a result of our aggressive and proactive activities and we continue to do so with the help, support and cooperation of our fellow Solanoans," Dacayo said.

The LGU also sought the extension of its September 1-15 MECQ status to September 30 to enable its efforts to bear more result.

Dacayo said their funds for various projects have been realligned to boost their resources in fighting the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic in the municipality.(MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
