ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Oct 1 (PIA)-- The Municipality of Taytay's Tiangges and other establishments are operational and well-equipped against COVID.
Taytay Mayor George Ricardo "Joric" Gacula II states at the Presidential Communications Office's Laging Handa Network Briefing News program hosted by Secretary Jose Ruperto Martin Andanar.
Mayor Gacula stated that tiangges and other similar establishments have complied with local regulations in order to operate since the town has been placed under the General Community Quarantine.
Only 40 percent capacity of vendors will be allowed to operate and the local government has already measured distance of in order to have a two square meter per person capacity alongside the strict implementation of minimum health protocols such as face shields and masks.
Mayor Gacula also thanked the national government particularly the Department of Trade and Industry for their assistance during the quarantine period.
"We were in business even in the ECQ since 80% of PPEs and washable face mask are coming from our municipality. So kahit naka-lockdown or naka-ECQ patuloy po ang online business dito sa Taytay," Mayor Gacula remarks.
The Municipal Government also utilizes the QR code-based app Traze for a more efficient contact tracing system.
The Sangguniang Bayan has also recently signed a local ordinance requiring local business establishments to utilize the app.
Mayor Gacula states that customers no longer need to fall in line to manually fill out forms.
Instead of taking around ten minutes to fill-put forms, using the Traze app may take a much shorter amount of time to input data.
"Mas honest po ito dahil paminsan sa mga papers hindi naman talaga nabibigay ang tunay na data. So, with this Traze app that respects the privacy of our customers and visitors sa Taytay, mas mapapadali," Mayor Gacula adds.
Customers who have provided their data via the app will also be alerted if a certain establishment, restaurant of office has been flagged with COVID.
"We have 5,700 franchises dito sa Taytay at lahat ay minamandato namin magkaroon ng traze app. That will be put in place this month at napakagaan ng trabaho ng ating contact tracers sa municipal health office and it will lessen the burden of the Philippine National Police which is also at the upfront of the contact tracing duties," he remarks.
The local government is also set to conduct stricter protocols some November in transport terminals.
Mayor Gacula reminds Taytayeños that while the government is slowly re-opening its economy, locals must still be vigilant and strictly adhere to health guidelines since the COVID-threat remains. (GG)
