6 overflow bridges in Isabela impassable

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, October 26 (PIA) - The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) of this province has registered at least six overflow bridges that are impassable due to the rains brought by the trough the Typhoon Quinta and tail end of a frontal system since yesterday.

As of 9:00pm of October 25, 2020, the PDRRMC has recorded that the Turod Bankero overflow bridge in Reina Mercedes, Cabagan – Sta. Maria overflow bridge, Cansan Cabagan - Bagutari Sto. Tomas overflow bridge, Baculud overflow bridge in the City of Ilagan, Gucab overflow bridge in Echague and Alicaocao overflow bridge in Cauayan City are not passable to motorists.

PDRRM Officer Ret. Police B/Gen. Jimmy Rivera has dispatched the rescue units in the identified low-lying areas to be on guard on the possible effect of the typhoon in the province as a pro-active measure to avert the loss of lives of IsabeleƱos.

Local Disaster Risk and Management Offices and police personnel including barangay police in the respective localities are deployed to the said bridges to ensure that no one will attempt to cross the bridges while it is submerged to avoid accidents.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted that typhoon Quinta may not directly hit Isabela but it may bring moderate to heavy rains in the Luzon. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
