ILOILO CITY, Oct. 4 (PIA) – Senior high school graduates and graduating students may avail of a scholarship from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) should they pursue a bachelor’s degree in fisheries.
The bureau’s Fisheries Scholarship Program (FSP) is offering a four-year scholarship to qualified applicants.
The FSP has three program components, namely, Fisherfolk Children Education Grant (FCEG), Fishery Industry Leaders Grant (FILG), and the FSP-Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (FSP-ICC/IPs).
Each region will have 26 slots allotted for the scholarship program.
The breakdown of available slots for the said components are as follows: 20 for FCEG; three for FILG; and three for FSP-ICC/IPs.
The scholarship will include, among others, P5,000 monthly allowance; P2,000 semestral book allowance; and on-the-job training and thesis support.
A nationwide competitive examination will be conducted on December 5, 2020 in testing centers to be identified by each province.
