SAN FERNANDO CITY, Oct. 31 (PIA) – The province of La Union braces for possible impacts of Typhoon Rolly.
As of Saturday morning, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) La Union reported that their office has issued red alert memorandum to the lone city and 19 municipal DRRM offices.
Hence, all local government units (LGU) have activated their respective emergency operation center and conduct continuous monitoring and dissemination of weather forecasts, gale warning, and other advisories to all their constituents through their respective Barangay DRRM council.
In particular, LGU-Caba has prepared evacuation areas while LGU-Bauang has conducted risk assessment to flood prone barangays within their jurisdiction.
Further, LGU-San Juan conducts mobile patrolling of landslide prone areas and monitoring of flood water levels. It has also issued MDRMMC Memorandum No. 3, s. 2020 stating that the San Juan beach area will be closed effective 6 p.m. today due to impending threats of Typhoon Rolly.
Currently, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is raised in La Union.
PDRRMO La Union, so far, has not recorded any significant effects of the typhoon in the province. (JCR/JPD, PIA La Union)
