LINGAYEN,Pangasinan, Oct 31 (PIA) - The Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) and department heads of the provincial government convened for an emergency meeting in preparation for the imminent threat posed by Typhoon Rolly .
PDRRMC Chair Governor Amado Espino III urged Pangasinenses not to be complacent and undertake pre-emptive evacuation as needed.
In his video message on Saturday (Oct 31), Espino reminded Pangasinenses to be vigilant for the impending danger posed by the natural disaster and called on local officials for unified efforts.
“Ayon po sa PAGASA, magla-landfall po ang bagyong Rolly bukas ng gabi at inaasahan po na maapektuhan ang probinsya ng Pangasinan bukas hanggang Lunes,” stated Gov. Espino in his video message.
Government line agencies including the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Army, and Philippine Coast Guard bared that their respective teams are already in position in anticipation of the landfall of the typhoon in the province.
As to the availability of relief goods, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) has a stockpile of 1,000 sacks of rice; 70 boxes of sardines; 700 boxes of noodles; and 1,000 family packs.
Meanwhile in Dagupan City, where the projected path of the typhoon is expected to bring strong winds, Mayor Brian Lim directed the City DRRMO to preposition all relevant equipment for rescue and clearing operations.
CDRRMO personnel were also ordered to be on standby mode effective Saturday (Oct. 31).
Lim also directed the City Social Welfare and Development Office to preposition food packs and water for possible relief operations and coordinate with the City Engineering Office to prepare identified evacuation centers, especially those at island barangays.
As of the 11am PAGASA weather bulletin today, October 31, Typhoon Rolly is expected to traverse Dagupan City Sunday night (Nov. 1) until Monday night (Nov. 2) as it exits to the West Philippine Sea. (JCR/VHS/PIA)
