CEBU CITY, Oct. 27 (PIA) -- The Land Transportation Office Region 7 (LTO-7) resumed on Oct. 22, 2020 the distribution of motor vehicle (MV) plates for brand new four-wheel vehicles as the economy slowly shifts to the new normal.

The plate distribution by LTO-7 resumed at SM Seaside City Cebu where 19,302 plates were set to be released.

LTO-7 reminded the public to book for a schedule first before claiming their MV plates so that LTO-7 personnel can prepare the plate that will be released to them.

Claimants will have to send a text with the information of their plate number and MV file number, date of first registration, and the name of the owner to 0947-349-9965, according to LTO-7 in a press release.

The text line is open from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

LTO-7 also reminded the motorists who will be claiming their MV plates to prepare a photocopy of the Official Receipt (OR) and the Certificate of Registration and photocopy of any valid government-issued ID.

If a representative will claim the plate, a notarized authorization letter with a photocopy of the valid government-issued IDs of both the owner and the authorized person have to be presented upon claiming.

Likewise, if the vehicle is owned by a company, a notarized Special Power of Attorney, Secretary Certificate with one photocopy of the valid government-issued ID of the Secretary, and the authorized person will also be needed.

Once a final schedule is sent to the owner, they can proceed to SM Seaside City Cebu, City Wing at the Lower Ground Floor to claim their MV plates.

"Please wait for the confirmation to know your scheduled date and time of claiming. If the plate is unclaimed, you will have to reschedule your appointment," said LTO-7 in their notice posted on their official Facebook page.

The agency started releasing the MV plates on Feb. 13 of this year where a total of 1,941 plates were released.

Its operation stopped on March 17, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Plates from years 2015 and 2016 are now available except for some plate series such as GEB 2999 to GEB 9895 and GEC 1220 to GEC 2000.

Special plates from the year 2015, 2016 (January-June), and 2017 (January-April) can also be claimed. (jsme/PIA with reports from LTO-7)
