PASIG CITY, Oct. 16 (PIA) -- The Philippine Army’s molecular laboratory has now achieved operations readiness after receiving its accreditation from the Department of Health (DOH).
Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Cirilito E. Sobejana graced the opening of the laboratory on Thursday, which was established to provide quality health care services related to emerging infectious diseases in the Army as well as to level up the organization’s capabilities against the COVID-19 in the country.
“The Philippine Army rises to the challenges to be resilient even in the face of this pandemic. And today’s launching of the PA Molecular Laboratory illustrates this resolve to battle the coronavirus disease and build the Army’s health care service,” said Sobejana.
The army chief also thanked the DOH and the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, as well as the Army offices and units that made new health care facility possible.
The facility will perform the Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) COVID-19 testing process can accommodate about 90 samples a day.
Last July, the molecular laboratory was being readied to provide quality and accurate health care services related to emerging infectious diseases to Army personnel, military dependents, civilian human resource, and other authorized civilians in the Army. (PIA-NCR)
