RPOC-NCR establishes an 'online systems' for info sharing towards effective policymaking

PARAÑAQUE CITY, Oct. 3 (PIA) -- The Regional Peace and Order Council-National Capital Region (RPOC-NCR) has established an online system as part of its strategies in adapting to the new normal.

The Deparment of the Interior and Local Government-NCR, the RPOC-NCR secretariat, said the system is designed to upscale the services of the Council by fostering knowledge sharing among its members for effective policymaking.

"With the system, member agencies and organizations can have access to RPOC-NCR files and data anytime for online collaboration," the DILG-NCR said.

Embracing the new normal, the RPOC-NCR held its third quarter council meeting through the Zoom platform.

The 56-member council met via Zoom, with RPOC-NCR Chair Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez, Vice-Chairpersons PMGen Debold Sinas of the NCRPO and BGen Alex Luna of the AFP JTF-NCR on-site in Parañaque City Hall. They are joined by members of the RPOC-NCR Secretariat led by Assistant Head Secretariat DILG-NCR OIC Assistant Regional Director Atty. Ana Lyn Baltazar-Cortez.

Among the key members present in the virtual meeting are Mayors Oscar Malapitan of Caloocan, Imelda Aguilar of Las Piñas, Antolin Oreta III of Malabon, Francisco Javier Zamora of San Juan, Metro Manila Development Authority Chair Danilo Lim, Liga ng mga Barangay Regional President Ziffred Ancheta, Metrobank Foundation President Aniceto Sobrepeña, and regional directors and representatives of the member agencies.

DILG Undersecretary for Peace Bernardo Florece also joined the meeting and delivered the message of Secretary Eduardo Año, who expressed support for the Council.

Newly-appointed PNP Chief Camilo Pancratius Cascolan also sent his message of support to the council and assured of the PNP’s continuous efforts in maintaining peace and order in the region.

Highlights of the meeting are the sharing of best practices of San Juan in maintaining peace and order, as presented by Zamora which include the numerous undertakings of the city with the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and Bureau of Fire Protection on the implementation of their Prevent, Detect, Isolate, Treat, and Reintegrate strategies against COVID-19.

Reports of the Council’s special action committees (SACs) were also presented to the body, for their concurrence and setting of timetable and deliverables for its members. The SACs have been created by the council to focus on concerns falling under five areas – crime and disorder, anti-illegal drugs, violent extremism and insurgency, public safety, and administrative governance.

Before the regular meeting, the SACs have continued to work on the plans of the Council, meeting virtually to ensure that commitments are fulfilled to help in the creation of policies.
