SAN JOSE, Antique, Oct. 24 (PIA) - - The "BAGANI" Class of 2020, who are the newly recruited Fire Officers (FOs) of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Western Visayas, are on training in Antique after they took their oath early this month.
A total of 149 Fire Officers1 were sworn into office by Regional Director SSupt Jerry D. Candido in a virtual ceremony on October 1 at the Assemblyman Segundo Moscoso Memorial School, Barangay San Pedro, San Jose after they complied with the (SPELL OUT RTPCR) test and other procedures required before the training.
The virtual oathtaking was a nationwide event wherein other FOs from different regions also took their oath.
The training for Western Visayas is being undertaken at the Regional Evacuation Center also in Barangay San Pedro.
Candido urged the newly installed FOs to give their unselfish service to the community; work with efficiency; be disciplined, and continue learning /studying the BFP manual as Fire Officers.
BFP Information Officer FO3 Vilmarie M. Pagunsan, in a press release, said that 14 of the recruited FOs will be assigned in the Province of Antique, another 14 to Aklan, six to Guimaras, 41 to Iloilo, 42 to Negros Occidental and 32 to Capiz.
This year’s recruits named their class “BAGANI” which stands for Bagong Bayani Gamit Talino Ninanais Magserbisyo.
Fire Chief Director Jose Segundo Embang Jr., in a virtual message, enjoined the recruits do their job and live up to the expectations of BFP’s mission and vision.
"BFP is not for firefighting alone, as it was traditionally known for. It goes beyond responding to fire calls as it also deals with fire prevention, emergency medical services, rescue, legal service among other thrusts of the bureau," Segundo pointed out.
The Fire Officers are to stay in the training center for two months before their deployment to various fire stations in the region. (JBG/PSM/PIA-Antique/BFP)
