ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Nov. 23 (PIA) – The Capiz provincial government will launch and mobilize a relief operation dubbed “Kabalaka sang Capiz sa Luzon,” Nov. 23, to gather donations for the suffering victims of typhoon Ulysses in Luzon.
Governor Esteban Evan Contreras said that the donation drive is amid the victims helpless cries and the limitations of concerned local government units devastated by the typhoon and flood waters can give in the aftermath of the devastation.
“I am knocking for help from the kindhearts of each Capiznon. Let us be one with every victim,” he said in a video produced by the Capiz Kabalaka Information Center for the campaign.

"We too are victims of these calamities wherein we are also helped by people from other provinces that provided us relief and other assistance,” he added.
The governor, in a radio interview, said that he prefers that the cash assistance out of the voluntary donation campaign will be used to buy Capiznon products like dried fish and be delivered to the typhoon - hit areas.
In such a way, local economy will be spiced and Capiz products will be promoted while helping those in need, Contreras noted.
The provincial government has also launched a similar campaign in November 2019 to help earthquake victims in Mindanao which utilized water gallons as donation boxes at the Provincial Capitol, government offices and schools, among others, as drop off points of the Capiceños' financial help.
The initiative for Luzon is also deemed a thanksgiving for the Capiznons who have been spared by the ravages of the storm.
“Regardless of the amount of relief goods that we give, it's the thought that is important,” Contreras stressed. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
