City gov’t taps parent-leaders as ‘COVID warriors’

ILOILO CITY, Nov. 11 (PIA) – The Iloilo City Government will be tapping parent-leaders to help in the dissemination of correct information on measures and protocols to curb the transmission of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in this city.

Iloilo City COVID-19 Spokesperson Jeck Conlu said that the city has existing parent-leaders, under the different government programs and projects, who will serve as “COVID warriors” and will voluntarily help in the city’s battle against COVID-19.

“We have designed a program that will orient them on how to properly disseminate the appropriate information that the public should follow,” he said.

He said these parent-leaders including the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps) and Uswag scholars have expressed willingness to support the city’s initiatives against COVID-19.

Likewise, these volunteers will help promote the importance of following protocols, which should begin in the households.

Conlu said that they are coordinating with the barangay officials, barangay health workers (BHWs), and barangay health emergency response teams (BHERTs) for the implementation of this initiative. (JSC/LTP/PIA6 Iloilo)
