DOH, RITM inspect new COVID-19 molecular lab in Iloilo province

ILOILO CITY, Nov. 12 (PIA) --- Representatives from the Department of Health (DOH) Central Office and the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) Licensing Team conducted on Wednesday an inspection of the newly-completed COVID-19 molecular laboratory that is situated at the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan, Iloilo.

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor said that the building for the laboratory has been completed and this was inspected by the team from DOH and RITM.

 “The DOH and RITM are just consolidating the documents and findings for their assessment, and once we will obtain and complete these documents and we are able to comply with other lacking requirements, we can accomplish our application for accreditation,” he said.

He said that there are a few remaining fixtures that have yet to be installed but the laboratory equipment are already complete.

Meanwhile, Defensor said that they are targeting to commence the trial of laboratory operations by last week of November.

He said that the remaining personnel requirement that need to be complied with is the training for personnel and assistants who are non-medical technologists.
