DPWH completes 44-bed capacity quarantine facility in Makati Aqua Sports Arena

CALOOCAN CITY, NOV. 2 (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed and turned-over a new 44-bed capacity COVID-19 isolation facility to the City Government of Makati.

In a statement, DPWH Secretary and Isolation Czar Mark A. Villar said that the makeshift hospital that comes with one (1) nursing station and one (1) X-ray room inside Makati Aqua Sports Arena was put up by DPWH Metro Manila 2nd District Engineering Office from 40-foot container vans.

The completed facility was turned over on Thursday, October 29, 2020 by Secretary Villar to Makati City Mayor Abigail S. Binay and Makati City Congressman Luis N. Campos.

The turn-over ceremony was also graced by Chief Implementer of the Philippines’ Declared National Policy Against COVID-19 Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Jr.

Just like the rest of the DPWH-implemented COVID-19 Quarantine Facilities, the one in Makati is fully-airconditioned, and is equipped with hospital beds, tables and chairs, and a private comfort room for each of the patient room.

Guided by the design prepared by DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of Local and National Health Facilities, the Metro Manila 2nd District Engineering Office converted the Makati Aqua Sports Arena makeshift hospital in only 30 days. (DPWH/PIA-NCR)
