CEBU CITY, Nov. 19 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the region (DSWD-7) is accepting donations for families and victims who were badly affected by recent typhoons that hit several areas in Luzon.
Those who wish to extend their help may drop their donations at the DSWD Field Office 7 located at Brgy. Carreta, Cebu City.
The agency will accept cash and in-kind donations.
Cash donations can be transferred and deposited to the DSWD Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) account with the following details: Account Name: DSWD DONATION FUND, Account Number: 3122-1011-84, and Bank Address: Landbank of the Philippines, Batasan Branch, Constitution Hills, Quezon City.
Accepted items for in-kind donations are food (nonperishable goods, canned goods), mats, toiletries, blankets, tents, eco bags, kitchen and cooking utensils, toys, and other essential items that victims need.
To safeguard the health and maintain the dignity and well-being of families affected by the disaster, DSWD discourages the donation of used clothes, but instead, only new sets of clothes and adult undergarments will be accepted as donations.
Donors may indicate the name of the place or region in Luzon where they wish to send their donations to, such as in Bicol, Region 2, Region IV-A, or other parts of Luzon.
This month super typhoon “Rolly” and typhoon “Ulysses” entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility and made landfall in areas of Luzon which triggered extreme flooding and landslides, destroyed properties and livelihood, and displaced a lot of families.
DSWD reminds everyone to be careful and report fake accounts that use the name of the agency to take advantage of collecting donations for their personal gains.
Meanwhile, the DSWD Central Office as well as other field offices continue to provide augmentation support to local government units that were severely hit by the calamity. (hfg with report from DSWD-7)
