Infra projects underway in Cagayan 3rd district

Congressional Representative Joseph "Jojo" Lara says a river control project will soon be constructed at Barangay Nannarian  in Peñablanca town.

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Nov. 9 (PIA) - - Several infrastructure projects will soon be constructed in the Third district of this province, said Congressional Representative Joseph "Jojo" Lara in his State of the District Address.

He said there will be P2.8 billion worth of projects to be implemented next year through the Department of Public Works and Highways.

These projects include road and bridge development projects in the towns of Enrile, Iguig, Tuao and Peñablanca.

He also added that a river control project will soon be constructed at Barangays Nannarian and Camasi in Peñablanca town, and a major drainage and flood control projects in Tuguegarao City.

Lara also said there will be additional classroom buildings to be constructed in some schools in the different towns of the district.

Earlier, he said there is an ongoing bridge project in Amulung and a tertiary school was established in Solana.

He also mentioned that evacuation centers will soon to rise in Cordova, Amulung; in Lagum and Callao of Peñablanca; and an additional one in Iguig.

He also proposed funding for evacuation centers of Solana and Enrile towns.

"We will rehabilitate the damaged gymnasiums in the municipalities which were destroyed during the previous typhoons. We really need to rehabilitate these because these are multi-purpose facilities. These are very helpful in times of calamities and even during this time of pandemic," Lara said.

He is also stated that he is negotiating with the Department of Science and Technology for the establishment of early warning devices for flood forecasting considering that flooding remains to be a challenge in the different parts of the district.

Lara also said a dormitory will to soon rise at the Cagayan State University, Carig Campus for the students from far places.

He boasted that Cagayan 3rd district is very much lucky to snatch the biggest pie of the funds among the districts in the province. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
