CALOOCAN CITY, Nov. 28 (PIA) -- Philippine National Police (PNP) Spokesperson BGen. Ilderandi Usana said during Friday’s #LagingHandaPh public briefing that “there was no significant effect on their operations” in their call to temporarily suspend the reassignment of personnel under the recent PNP localization program.
“We have policies and process on our personnel for their transfer and reassignments. And in two months’ time we have transferred close to 5,000 PNP personnel to their local place,” Usana said.
“But it has an effect on placements and adjustments of local police. We need to strike the delegate balance between the need of a particular unit na nangangailangan ng mga kapulisan lalo na dito sa NCR,” he added.
Usana explained that they have also considered the threat of the pandemic, saying they “don’t want to anticipate that the transfer of their PNP personnel to a local place or [their] home [town] will affect and have repercussions later in their communities.”
“Also, there are PNP personnel who have on going cases and court hearings that they will be required to be present too,” he said.
“Kami po sa PNP ay handing mag serbisyo para sa lahat ng mamamayan natin na nangagailangan ng tulong at assistance. And we hope to build better relationships with the community. Kailangan po nating sundin ang mga panuntunan para sa ating kapakanan.” Usana added.
To recall, the PNP earlier implemented a mass movement of personnel that initially covered inter-regional reassignment of troops to their hometowns and places of permanent residence to give them a strong sense of ownership of their locality and in the process, induce better performance. (PIA NCR)
