NAVAL, Biliran, November 11 (PIA) -- The weeklong celebration of the 2020 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) in Eastern Visayas via virtual platform is highlighted by scientific advancements in research and technological innovations.
This was emphasized by DOST 8 Regional Director Ernesto M. Granada in a press statement.
Granada said the NSTW, which is an annual undertaking of the department, is aimed at recognizing the contributions of Science, Technology and Innovation, contributory to the country's sustainable development.
"This event showcases the latest and innovations in the region through virtual exhibits, online fora, S&T film festival and technology webinars," Granada further said.
The DOST chief in Eastern Visayas assured the general public, who are interested to join the daily virtual activities, that this year's celebration is packed with interesting activities which feature DOST programs and services, innovations in various fields such as in agriculture, health, disaster preparedness, food technology, and many others.
He further informed the general public that the weeklong celebration is conducted online in compliance to the IATF restrictions on social gatherings due to the current Covid-19 pandemic.
"All activities for this event will be conducted online using virtual conferencing platform particularly via Zoom," the DOST Regional chief emphasized.
