ILIGAN CITY, Nov. 30 (PIA) -- In support to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) developed by the United Nations General Assembly, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Kapatagan in Lanao del Norte is set to intensify its efforts in addressing and adapting to climate change.
During the Network Briefing today, SK President Marian Jule Cedeño shared their plans in support of SDG 13 which is climate action.
"Iyong project is backyard gardening para matugunan ang gutom sa pangmatagalang pandemic," she said.
[The backyard gardening project aims to address hunger in the midst of a pandemic.]
SK Kapatagan will also partner with Wasteless Ph, a group that provides personal care products using zero wastes.
"Instead yung recyclables mapunta sa landfill, in exchange with this magbibigay ang Wasteless Ph ng bar soaps.
[Instead the recyclables will end up in landfills, Wasteless Ph will provide bar soaps in exchange.]
The SK president also emphasized that the project can help hasten the huge volume of wastes produced in their municipality.
Cedeño also encouraged her fellow youth to take part in addressing issues in their community.
"Sa mga kabataan, magtulungan tayo. If you have good ideas, pwede magshare sa isa't-isa para sa pagtugon sa issues and concerns," she said.
[To the youth, let us help one another. If you have good ideas that can help address issues and concerns, you can share them with each other.]
In total, there are 17 SDGs that are interlinked goals and designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all" and are intended to be achieved by the year 2030. (LELA/PIA ICIC)
