ILIGAN CITY, Nov. 30 (PIA) - The municipal government of Kapatagan will set up a Malasakit Assistance Desk to help indigent patients in processing the requirements for medical assistance from the government.
"Ang Malasakit Assistance Desk ang tutulong sa pagproseso sa lahat ng kinakailangan ng mga pasyente tulad ng Certificate of Indigency issued by the barangay captain and the Certificate of No Land Holding issued by the municipal assessor," Kapatagan mayor Barry Baguio said during Monday's Network Briefing hosted by Communications Secretary Martin Andanar.
He said these documents will help in identifying if the patient is indigent so that he will no longer have difficulty in applying for medical assistance.
This assistance desk will complement the newly-opened Malasakit Center located at the Kapatagan Provincial Hospital.
The Malasakit Center is a program of the government which aims to serve as a one-stop shop where indigent and financially incapacitated patients can access information and conveniently apply for medical assistance.
It brings together in one office relevant government agencies with existing medical assistance programs including the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), PhilHealth, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Baguio said the Malasakit Assistance Desk will help the indigents process the requirements needed by PCSO, PhilHealth, DSWD and DOH in the Malasakit Center.
"Sa akin paningin, kailangan pa rin mayroon mga staff tayo na mag assist sa kanila at yun ang gagawin ng Malasakit Assistance Desk sa aking tanggapan," he added.
[In my opinion, we still need to have staff to assist them and that is what the Malasakit Assistance Desk in my office will do.]
The mayor also emphasized that Malasakit Center which is under the supervision of the Provincial Government is open to all.
He said he will encourage other local chief executives in Lanao del Norte to bring their patients to the Malasakit Center to avail of the government's assistance. (APB/PIA-ICIC)
