CALOOCAN CITY, Dec. 14 (PIA) -- Valenzuela City's Local Economic and Investment Promotions Office (LEIPO), in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), awards gift checks to 55 micro-entrepreneurs last December 9 at the Valenzuela City Hall to help them recover from the effects of the pandemic on their businesses.

As a result of the ongoing pandemic, several businesses were forced to close and mass layoffs occurred.

Most affected are micro-entrepreneurs and self-employed persons were most affected, including shop owners, household- based businesses, and street vendors, who heavily rely on their small businesses.

The City Government of Valenzuela and the DTI’ livelihood grant is under the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PBG) program, a livelihood assistance program that aims to assist entrepreneurs affected by the pandemic.

Beneficiaries receive gift checks worth PhP 8,000 each to assist them in their needs while the City’s LEIPO will continuously help them by providing training on business planning and development.

According to the city government, with the cash assistance, the entrepreneurs can start anew and rebrand their product and make it suitable for the pandemic. (Valenzuela PIO/PIA-NCR)
