TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Dec. 19 (PIA) - - The Cagayan Electric Cooperative 1 (CAGELCO 1) is set to energize 19 sitios in Southern Cagayan area under the Sitio Energization Program (SEP) of the National Electrification Administration (NEA).
Engineer Tito R. Lingan, general manager, said some of the sitios should have been energized earlier but the beneficiaries are not yet ready in so far as the requirements set by their respective Local Government Units are concerned.
He said the members of the committee created for the SEP are now conducting assessment in the sitios to determine if the resident recipients are ready to accept the energization.
"We are very much ready to energize the line anytime. But the problem is on the recipients because they are still completing the requirements of their respective LGUs for them to be given permits to be energized," Lingan said.
He also added that they are negotiating with the LGUs to help the sitio residents comply with their respective requirements to include electrical permit, electrical plan, certificate of occupancy, among others.
"If they are ready to be energized, we are more than happy to provide them the power for their lights before Christmas as a gift for them this yuletide season. We know that they will be very happy if their lines will be energized before the year ends," Lingan added.
The areas include some sitios in the towns of Peñablanca, Baggao, Piat, Sto. Nino, Tuao, Enrile, Amulung and Tuguegarao City.
He added that the powerbill deposit for indigent households is free, another gift to the consumers according to Lingan.
The power bill deposit of P1, 200 is usually collected as one of the requirements for new member consumers. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
