CDO b.i.t.e.s is DOST-PCIEERD Kabalikat University TBI Awardee

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Dec. 1  -- Local business technology incubator, CDO b.i.t.e.s. (Business Incubation Technology Entrepreneurship and Startups) of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) gains recognition for advancing science and technology in the Philippines and its accomplishments in enabling the innovations in their sector.

The PCIEERD Kabalikat University TBI Award is an award given to a university based Technology Based Incubator (TBI) that has contributed to their community and their region by becoming the center of innovation.

CDO b.i.t.e.s. was established in 2016 and has supported 33 startups, raised 3.7 million in investment in various startups and firestarter programs and has an accumulated revenue of P37.7 million.

It has established partnerships and collaborations with 17 local and  4 international organizations including Microsoft.

It also received the highest satisfaction rating among the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) TBI Network.

As a university based TBI, the groups has contributed to the community in the region by becoming the center of innovation, building a network of key innovation partners, generating jobs and attracting investments.

USTP System President Dr Ambrosio B. Cultura II thanked the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) for the support and recognition.

"Indeed, our partnership and collaborative effort in supporting the establishment of Technology Business Incubation in the university is one of the effective programs engaged by DOST-PCIEERD to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the country’s socio-economic development" Dr. Cultura said.

The awarding ceremony was conducted during the 4th Technology Business Incubators Virtual Summit by DOST.

The QBO Innovation was also recognized as the PCIEERD Startup Ecosystem Builder Awardee.

DOST is halfway in achieving 1,000 startups by 2023. (USTP)
