COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Aklan

KALIBO, Aklan, Dec. 29 (PIA) – Confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continue to increase in the province of Aklan, according to the Provincial Health Office (PHO) here.

Based on the latest report of PHO-Aklan, a total of 422 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were registered in the province, as of December 27, 2020.

Majority of the patients were classified as local transmission, with 343 cases; followed by Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs), with 59 cases; and Authorized Person Outside Residence (APOR) and Returning Overseas Filipinos(ROF), with 10 cases each.

Of the total number of cases, 54 are active cases; of whom 53 are facility quarantined and the one patient is admitted at the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital – the COVID 19 hospital of the province.

The recovery rate of the province from the said disease is at 87 percent, or 354 patients already recovered.

Meanwhile, 14 deaths due to COVID-19 were listed in Aklan; the latest was from Madalag who was also the first COVID-19 case of the said town.

To date, all the 17 municipalities of the province have reported confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The province is still waiting for the test results of the 777 individuals who already submitted their swab specimens.

The PHO here appealed to the public to strictly and properly observe health protocols especially that cases of COVID-19 in the province are increasing.

Each should make a habit to wash hands regularly, observe social distancing, and more importantly, wear face masks and shields. (LTP/SQP/PIA Aklan)
