DAR to provide 3 hectares of land for agriculture graduates

PAGADIAN CITY, Dec. 27, 2020 (PIA) - Good news!

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has announced that they will provide (3) three hectares of land to children who will take an agricultural course.

The good news was announced by Secretary John Castriocines in front of 720 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Zamboanga Peninsula during the distribution of the Certificate of Land Ownership Title Award (CLOA) at the Executive Function Hall, City Mayor's Office this bag -or just yet.

"As Secretary of the DAR, I have made an administrative order that any child of a farmer who completes an agricultural course, upon his graduation, we will give him three (3) hectares of farm lot," Castriocines proudly announced.

He added that farmers who have studied agriculture can use what they know to develop the land and they can also use planting methods to strengthen our agricultural sector.

Castriocines said the agricultural sector in our country is now weakening because there are very few children of farmers who take the agricultural course. Besides, the view of the people in the profession of our farmers is very low.

“I have observed that farmers are ashamed of their profession. Instead of encouraging their children to take an agricultural course, they took a course in medicine, accountancy and law, ’Castriocines said.

Because of this alarming situation, Castriocines urged the public to change their view of our farmers to develop our agricultural sector and  time will come when our country will become an industrialized country like the USA.

Castriocines is very worried about who will cultivate our lands as many of our farmers are old and unable to cultivate their lands.

“Our country is very indebted to our farmers because they give us a strong foundation of our economy. Whatever we experience in the Covid-19 pandemic, our people will surely have something to eat, ”Castiocenes assured.

Meanwhile, he also announced that all retired PNP and AFP will be given land by the agency.

"All retirees of the PNP and AFP, when you retire, you will also be given land so that you too can become farmers and help revive the sector in our agriculture," Castriocines concluded. (PIA9 /NBE/ GCC-Zamboanga del Sur)
