COTABATO CITY, Dec. 1 (PIA) -- The Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) Soccksargen is intensifying its efforts to further ensure the provision of quality health care services for the constituents of the region, particularly this time of pandemic.

Specifically, said units were turned-over to the following health facilities: Lake Sebu Rural Health Unit (RHU), South Cotabato; Barangay Fatima Health Center, Barangay West RHU, Barangay Tinagacan RHU, City Heights Barangay Health Station (BHS), Mabuhay BHS, and Katangawan BHS all in General Santos City; Malitubog BHS, Guiling Proper BHS, and Upper Dado BHS all in Alamada, Cotabato; Fa. Tulio Favali Municipal Hospital, in Tulunan, M’lang District Hospital, Arakan RHU, Kabacan RHU, and Cotabato Provincial Hospital all in Cotabato province; and Alabel Municipal Health Office, Malungon RHU, and Sarangani Provincial Hospital all in Sarangani province.

The distribution of said ambulances is under the Department of Health’s Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP) that aims to upgrade the health facilities as well as to provide training to health professionals to improve people’s access to quality health care.

DOH-CHD XII Regional Director Dr. Aristides Tan expressed optimism the ambulances will be of great help in bringing patients to health facilities, particularly those who would need immediate medical attention.

“With the hope na these will be used in support to the Universal Healthcare Act or the Republic Act 11223 wherein it stipulates the enhancement or the facilitation in the referral of cases from different levels. With the enactment of the regulation on the use of ambulances, you will notice that all ambulances have to be registered and the driver has to be confident and trained on the basic care.” he said.

The units are also supplied with medical equipment necessary for emergency medical personnel to respond to medical emergencies.

One of the recipients, Municipal Mayor of Alabel Vic Paul Salarda thanked DOH-CHD XII for having a kind of ambulance with complete medical equipment inside.

“Rest assured that LGU Alabel will provide expert driver, and I do believe that not only a driver, an ambulance should also be accompanied with a nurse. That’s my commitment of having this ambulance,” he noted. (LTBlongon-PIA Cotabato City)
