Ilocos Sur gov’t to conduct Autosweep RFID installation caravan

ILOCOS SUR, Dec. 25 (PIA) – The provincial government of Ilocos Sur, headed by Governor Ryan Luis Singson, in partnership with San Miguel Corporation, will conduct the Autosweep Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Drive-Through Caravan for vehicles in the province from January 4 to 6, 2021.

The three-day installation event will be made available at the Kannawidan Grounds in Tamag, Vigan City for first district residents, including those from Santa town.

On the other hand, second district residents can have easier access to the RFID stickers at the Candon South Central School Oval in San Isidro, Candon City.

Vehicles with plate numbers ending in zero to four will be catered from 8:00 in the morning until 12:00 noon while those with plate numbers ending in five to nine will be accommodated from 12:00 noon to 4:00 in the afternoon.

The Autosweep RFID can be used to enter South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Skyway, NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), STAR Tollway, Tarlac–Pangasinan–La Union Expressway (TPLEX) and Muntinlupa–Cavite Expressway (MCX).

The provincial government said, “No need to go out of the province for your RIFD registration and sticker installation.”

“Get ready and take advantage of this hassle-free service,” it added.

It also reminded those who will avail of the initiative to follow the minimum health requirements, such as wearing face masks and shields and observing safe physical distancing.

Residents who will avail of Autosweep RFID stickers will be asked to submit themselves to body temperature checking and will have to present a valid ID; after which, a health personnel will provide them a number at the entrance.

Then, they have to present the completed application form which can be downloaded from the Autosweep website and will also be made available on-site.

A vehicle owner needs to pay Php 500.00 for the initial load of the sticker.

Finally, they will proceed to the Autosweep RFID installation area.

Earlier, the Department of Transportation released the Department Order 2020 – 0012 requiring all vehicles using toll expressways to pay via cashless or contactless transactions starting November 2, 2020.

The Order serves as a measure to mitigate the transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and as a means to ensure a more efficient flow of traffic within the expressway.

Thus, it requires the installation of RFID for all vehicles passing through the expressways. (JCR/AMB/PIA Ilocos Sur)
