DAVAO DEL NORTE, 11 December (PIA) – Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Director General, Ramon Cualoping III, has called on the youth to advocate BIDA and Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC).
During the BIDA-Ambisyon Natin Youth Forum, Cualoping made the call through his Chief of Staff, Karl Louie Fajardo.
“Two things: Be a BIDA Solusyon and let us help end communist armed conflicts in our nation. This way, we can live comfortable lives and see a better Philippines,” Cualoping III said.
He stressed that in hopes of bringing change, the youth’s partnership will be needed.
“…as much as we value hope, our nation needs partners for change right now. Our nation needs you—the youth right now,” he added.
However, Cualoping III clarified that they are not asking the youth for any drastic action, but just by being informed, responsible and empowered.
“We do not expect you to go and be all over the place or serve the nation right away or make drastic actions to make a change. You can do a lot, just by being an informed, responsible, and empowered youth,” he said.
He urged that in times of hardships just like the current pandemic, the youth must join in helping the nation move forward and not be deceived into doing things that may bring the country down further into turmoil.
“Drawbacks and setbacks happen, but you—as an empowered youth, have a choice,” he said.
“Either you join us in leading our nation forward or pulling us back into turmoil and disorder. Always do your research and train your minds for critical thinking,” he added.
Today’s BIDA-Ambisyon Natin is a half-day youth forum that featured three learning sessions on: BIDA Solusyon presented by Department of Health Region XI (DOH XI) Health Education and Promotion Officer, John Marco Pitlo; The Filipino Ambisyon Natin 2014 presented by The National Economic and Development Authority Region XI (NEDA XI) Senior Economic Dev’t Specialist, Ruth Lasquite; and E.O. 70 ELCAC presented by 10th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army Civil Military Operations Officer, Capt.
