VIGAN CITY, Dec. 6 (PIA) – After its successful launching in the second district last week, the provincial government of Ilocos Sur, together with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the city government of Vigan and the Office of the First District Representative, will also launch the “Ylocos Linawas a Tienda” in this city.

The Linawas a Tienda features food and non-food products which are llocos Sur-made.

The launching is scheduled on Monday, December 7 at 10 a.m. at the covered court of Barangay VIII here.

The opening ceremony will be led by Governor Ryan Luis Singson, First District Representative Deogracias Victor Savellano, Vice Governor Jeremias Singson, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member and Chair of the Committee on Trade and Industry Virginia Cordero Pe-Benito, Vigan City Mayor Juan Carlo Medina and DTI-Ilocos Sur Provincial Director Grace Lapastora.

During its launching in Candon City on December 2, Governor Singson said, “Sa unti-unting pagbubukas ng ating ekonomiya, malaki ang magiging benepisyo sa ating mga kababayan. Kaya nakipagtie-up tayo with DTI na magsagawa ng mga ganitong aktibidad para matulungan ang mga kababayan natin upang mabigyan sila ng venue o lugar para makapagtinda.”

Likewise, DTI-Ilocos Sur Provincial Director Lapastora said that this project aims to support the campaign of the national government to "Buy Local, Go Lokal" amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic to highlight the need to patronize local products to stimulate the economy while extending support to micro and medium enterprises who have been greatly affected by this outbreak.

“There is an Ylocos Linawas a Tienda wherein mga local products muna natin ang ating mga ipa-patronize para matulungan po ang ating mga naapektuhan na ating mga micro entrepreneurs  and for us, everyone, to know kung ano ba 'yong mga bagong produkto na meron tayo sa Ilocos Sur,” she said.

Meanwhile, DTI in the Ilocos Regional Director Grace Falgui-Baluyan also expressed her gratitude to the provincial government of Ilocos Sur and other partners for this initiative to help micro, small and medium enterprises to bounce back and generate sales.

The Linawas a Tienda will be alternately mounted in seven municipalities of the province and will culminate with a Christmas bazaar in the cities of Candon and Vigan this month. (JCR/AMB/PIA Ilocos Sur)
