NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Dec. 20 (PIA) –- Around 70 porters and members of the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in San Carlos City received their Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) grant from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
At least 60 porters and nine IP members received P10,000 each from DSWD for their livelihood start-up capital from DSWD during a distribution ceremony at the Senior Citizens Building in San Carlos City.
DSWD Implementing Project Development Officer Tranquilino P. Agriam said each eligible individual whose livelihood was affected by the pandemic received P10,000 as start-up capital for business.
Agriam added that before the cash distribution, beneficiaries were asked to pass utilization plans for their desired business while receipts of the purchases will be collected after 7-10 days to assure that items listed on the plan for their respective enterprise were bought.
These beneficiaries will also be monitored on a monthly basis, according to him.
“As beneficiaries, part of their responsibilities is to open bank accounts so that portion of their profits will be saved,” Agriam added.
SLP is a capability program that provides access to opportunities that provide productivity of the livelihood assets of poor, vulnerable, and marginalized communities, in order to improve their socio-economic well being. *(LTP/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
