SAN JOSE, Antique, Dec. 20 (PIA) –The contact tracers hired by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the province here recently underwent a one-day capacity building activity on government rules and protocols.
This is provided in the Civil Service Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards or Republic Act 6713.
Civil Service Commission-Antique Director Ramon Refugio spearheaded the orientation of 231 contact tracers in partnership with the Local Governance Resource Center of DILG Antique.
DILG Information Officer Judy Mae Magdato-Sajo, in a press release, said that contact tracers are expected to deliver their tasks as stated in their Terms of Reference by conducting interviews, profiling, and performing an initial public health risk assessment of COVID-19 cases.
The contact tracers are also in charge of identifying close contacts and well as refer the close contacts to isolation facilities, in coordination with local health authorities.
They are also expected to represent the DILG in their respective areas of assignment.
Since they come from various educational backgrounds and experiences, they need to inculcate not only the DILG’s mode and manner of operations, but also that of the government as a whole, Sajo said.
Following the new normal, DILG Antique employed an on-site and virtual orientation.
She said that the team leaders in all municipalities were physically present during the orientation while the remaining participants attended from their respective stations via live streaming.
DILG Antique Provincial Director Cherryl Tacda said that she hopes the activity will fill the knowledge gap of the contact tracers to necessary government rules, protocols and norms of conduct of public officials and employees. (JBG/DILG/PIA-Antique)
