Treñas heads LCP’s COVID-19 vaccine availment committee

ILOILO CITY, Dec. 30 (PIA) – Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas was appointed as chair of the COVID-19 vaccine availment committee of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP).

“I was given the opportunity to share my inputs and talk with the members of the National Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) as the chairman of the COVID-19 vaccine procurement of the League of Cities of the Philippines,” Treñas said.

He said that it is necessary to coordinate with the IATF so that their efforts will be systematized.

“Some of the local government units and the private sector are willing to purchase additional vaccines for their residents and employees,” he said.

Treñas shared that the IATF informed them they will help provide vaccines to the constituents and to cater to everyone.

“With the local government’s initiative to appropriate funds, we can help out the national government to get more vaccines for the Filipinos,” he said.

He said that the Iloilo City Government has allocated P200 million worth of funds to purchase vaccines.

“We aim to focus on its efficacy, therefore we aim to purchase those with high effectivity rate to ensure the safety of our constituents,” he added. (JSC/LTP/PIA6 Iloilo/Thumbnail photo courtesy of Jerry Treñas FB Page)
