DavSur's Tibolo tribal women to gain from livelihood recovery program

DAVAO CITY, Dec. 29 (PIA) – The Tibolo Tribal Women’s Association of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur is chosen to benefit from a private power firm’s livelihood recovery program which provides the opportunity of improving income through poultry and boosting small-scale poultry farming in the indigenous peoples community.

The women’s group, composed of 47 members from the Tibolo Tribal community, will be provided with egg machines under Hedcor’s P450,000-worth livelihood recovery program in partnership with Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (AFI).

According to Hedcor, the egg machines are complete with ready-to-lay hens, as well as rearing cages with built-in feeding through a waterer. The egg machine is able to produce eggs regularly within a period of 16 months.

Hedcor explained that the initiative by AFI, titled “Restart: Aboitiz Foundation Recovery Program for Partner Cooperatives, involves the provision of in-kind donations (re-starter kits) and/or training to select cooperatives nationwide.

The livelihood assistance will also cover a month’s supply of Pilmico’s poultry feeds and necessary training to be conducted by Pilmico’s Animal Production Specialists to help recipient associations take better care of their poultry and maximize their yield.

The Tibolo Tribal Women's association has been Hedcor's partner since 2019, as part of the power company’s host community in the municipality of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

Among the active involvement of the women’s group is the continuing projects such as catering services and function hall management in their tribal village.

Apart from Tibolo women’s association, the other partner associations of the livelihood assistance are Dalirig Women Organization, Guihean Women’s Organization and Lingion Power Association Rural Improvement Club from Bukidnon. (PIA-XI/Carina L. Cayon)
