CALOOCAN CITY, Jan. 5 (PIA) -- San Juan City residents can now register with the local government to avail of free COVID-19 vaccines once they are available in the country.
This, after Mayor Francis Zamora announced on Monday, Jan. 4, that the registration for the free COVID-19 vaccination is now open.
Residents may sign up online, or go to their barangay halls or health center to register.
The City Government of San Juan is currently in talks with the national government and pharmaceutical companies in procuring the vaccine.
The city earlier passed City Ordinance No. 75 allocating P50 million pesos as standby fund that will be used in the procurement of vaccines.
“We will be prioritizing health workers and frontliners to receive the vaccine first, then indigent senior citizens will soon follow, as advised by the WHO and IATF. Once done, residents who voluntarily signed up will receive the vaccine,” Mayor Francis said.
Zamora reassured residents that the vaccine the city will buy is proven safe and has undergone rigorous tests done by medical experts and other governments in the world.
“The City Government will be providing free COVID-19 vaccine to our constituents to finally defeat this pandemic and move ahead with our Makabagong San Juan initiatives. We are committed to providing the vaccine for free to San Juaneños who are willing to be inoculated against COVID-19,” he said. (PIA NCR)
